Somatic Yoga
Feel from within
Drop out of the mind & connect to your body
We will be running weekly outdoor yoga classes throughout the summer as part of The Island Yoga Project.
Date & Time: Tuesdays 6pm-7:15pm
Location: Coronation (Milbrook) Park – as you enter from the car park, turn left and follow the park all the way to the end, you will see us setup on the lefthand side.
Price: £5 – no need to book, just turn up with a yoga mat and some cash!
Weather: Classes are weather dependent, however, there is a sheltered area we can use so we will likely be going ahead most of the time. We will post updates for the classes on Instagram and Facebook. Follow us to stay up-to-date.
Style of Yoga: Hatha Yoga – slightly stronger than our usual somatic classes but still pretty gentle, slow paced and somatic in nature.
Teacher: We will be alternating teaching classes each week (generally). Again, we will post on Instagram and Facebook who is teaching each week.
Somatic yoga is the practice of moving the body with real presence and connection to the felt sense experience. During the class, we will continuously guide you to connect to your body and physical sensations. In this more present, embodied state, our mind quietens and our nervous system regulates. We gently relax into the positions without any stress or force, allowing our energy channels to naturally open so that our life-force energy can flow more freely through the body. Somatic meditations and breathwork practices are included to support this process.
Somatic yoga can support the first step in the somatic trauma healing process – cultivating a sense of safety within the body and nervous system regulation.
